Pursuant to Art. 13 of the General Data Protection Regulation – EU Reg. no. 2016/679 (GDPR), we provide you with the following information on the processing of personal data.
Data Controller

The Data Protection Officer (DPO) appointed by the Seraphic Province of S. Francesco O.F.M. can be contacted at the email address dpo@assisiofm.org or by registered letter at the offices of the Seraphic Province of S. Francesco O.F.M.
Purposes of processing
We process the personal data you provide for the following purposes:
- “Write a prayer“: your name, email address and any personal data contained in the text of the prayer will be processed to allow you to publish your prayer on the Pardon of Assisi website;
- “Create your Santino“Your name and email address and, if applicable, the name and email address of the person dear to you to whom you wish to give the “Santino” will be used by the Seraphic Province of St. Francis O.F.M. to create and to provide you or the person dear to you with the personalised digital “Santino”;
- “Donate now“:Your personal data will be processed for the completion of administrative and accounting activities related to your donation. It is possible that your name and email will be used by the Seraphic Province of St. Francis O.F.M. to send you a message of thanks. If you decide to leave a comment, it will be acquired by the Seraphic Province. If you decide to publish the comment on the ‘donor wall’ area on the website, your personal data will be used according to the settings you have selected for publication (e.g. show name only, etc.);
- “Prepare yourself for Forgiveness“: Your name and email address will be used by the Seraphic Province of St. Francis O.F.M. to send you the preparation emails for the Pardon of Assisi;
- “Receive a prayer“: Your name and email address will be used by the Seraphic Province of St. Francis O.F.M. to send you one prayer a day, for nine days, by email;
- “Follow live“: your name and email address will be used by the Seraphic Province of St. Francis O.F.M. to send you the link from which you can follow the celebrations;
- Staying informed: your name and email address will be used to send you communications concerning the activities, events and initiatives proposed by the Seraphic Province of St Francis O.F.M.
Legal basis of the processing
- “Write a Prayer“: the processing of personal data necessary for the use of this service is based on the consent of the data subject;
- “Create your Santino”: the processing of personal data necessary for the use of this service is based on the consent of the data subject;
- “Donate now“The processing of personal data necessary to make the donation is based on the fulfilment of a legal obligation to which the Data Controller is subject and on the consent of the Data Subject. Sending a message of thanks for the donation received constitutes a legitimate interest of the Data Controller. Publication on the ‘donor wall’ is based on the consent of the Data Subject;
- “Prepare for Forgiveness“: the processing of personal data necessary for the use of this service is based on the consent of the data subject;
- “Receive a Prayer“: the processing of personal data necessary for the use of this service is based on the consent of the data subject;
- “Follow the Live”: the processing of personal data necessary for the use of this service is based on the performance of a contract to which the Data Subject is a party and on the Data Subject’s consent (Art. 6 and Art. 9 GDPR);
- To remain informed: the sending of communications of an informative and promotional nature regarding the activities and initiatives of the Seraphic Province of St Francis O.F.M. is based on the consent of the interested party.
“Donate Now’ – Payment Management
The data used to make a donation in favour of the Friars Minor of Assisi is acquired directly by PAYPAL or by your bank in the case of payment by credit card, which are the payment service providers for making the donation. We invite you to read the Information on the processing of personal data provided by PayPal or your bank.
Optional or compulsory nature of providing personal data
- “Write a prayer“The personal data requested is necessary in order to use the service under consideration. Failure to provide the data will make it impossible to publish your prayer on the Perdono di Assisi website. The provision of your telephone number, on the other hand, is optional;
- “Create your Santino“The personal data requested are necessary in order to be able to use the service in question. Failure to provide the data will make it impossible for the Seraphic Province of St. Francis O.F.M. to create and provide you or your loved one with the personalised digital “Santino”;
- “Donate now“Personal data are required to carry out the donation and related administrative and accounting activities, according to the law. Failure to provide the data will make it impossible to make the donation. Leaving a comment and/or posting on the ‘donor wall’ are optional, failing which it will still be possible to make the donation;
- ‘Prepare for Pardon’: i dati personali richiesti sono dati necessari per poter usufruire del servizio in esame. Il mancato conferimento dei dati comporta l’impossibilità per la Provincia Serafica di San Francesco O.F.M. di inviare le email di preparazione al Perdono di Assisi;
- “Receive a prayer“The personal data requested are necessary in order to be able to use the service under consideration. Failure to provide the data will make it impossible for the Seraphic Province of St Francis O.F.M. to send you the prayers requested;
- “Follow live“The personal data requested are necessary in order to be able to use the service in question. Failure to provide the data will make it impossible for the Seraphic Province of St Francis O.F.M. to send you the link from which you can follow the celebrations;
- Staying informedThe provision of the personal data requested for informative and commercial purposes is optional. Failing this, there will be no consequences for the use of the services indicated above, but the Seraphic Province will not be able to inform you about events, courses, initiatives, offers and promotions of the Friars Minor of the Seraphic Province of St Francis O.F.M.
Duration of processing
Your personal data will be processed:
- until the purpose for which the personal data are processed is fulfilled. In case of donation also afterwards for the performance of administrative and accounting activities related to the donation;
- to the extent strictly necessary for the fulfilment of the legal obligations to which the Seraphic Province of St Francis O.F.M. is subject;
- in the case of using the “Write a Prayer” service or in the case of publication on the “Donor Wall”, the data may remain visible on the website until the next Forgiveness of Assisi event;
- until the consent is revoked, when the processing is based on it (revocation, however, does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out before revocation);
- until the legitimate interest of the Seraphic Province of St Francis O.F.M. ceases to exist, if the data processing is based on it.
Recipients of personal data
For the above-mentioned purposes, your personal data may be communicated to
- i dipendenti e i soggetti a qualsiasi titolo facenti parte dell’organizzazione della Provincia Serafica di San Francesco O.F.M., limitatamente a quanto strettamente necessario per lo svolgimento delle loro mansioni
- Subjects who can access the data by virtue of legal provisions, regulations or EU legislation, within the limits provided for by these rules;
- third parties, to the extent necessary to carry out their duties on behalf of the Seraphic Province of St Francis O.F.M., appointed as data processors where necessary pursuant to Article 28 of the GDPR;
- any other parties to whom the current legal and/or contractual regulations impose an obligation of communication;
- if your prayer is published on this website, the text of the prayer and your name will be visible to other users of the website;
- if you use the “Create Your Santino” service in favour of a person close to you, your name and surname will be disclosed to the person who will receive it.
Data transfer to non-EU countries
In order to offer users the services on the website, the Seraphic Province of St. Francis O.F.M. makes use of other operators to carry out some activities necessary to perform the operations or services requested by the users. Some operators have their headquarters or operate outside the European Union (so-called third countries), such as the Donorbox platform of the company Rebel Idealist Inc for donations and the MailUp platform of Growens Spa for sending communications on activities and events of the Seraphic Province of St. Francis O.F.M.
Therefore, the use of the services on this website may entail the transfer of some personal data to countries outside the European Union, in particular to the United States – U.S.A. These countries may have different data protection rules from the EU Reg. 2016/679 – GDPR and therefore even less protective than the European ones (e.g. the absence of a supervisory authority to which to turn, the lack of recognition of the rights of the Data Subject).
Any transfer of data to countries outside the European Union takes place in compliance with EU Reg. 2016/679 – GDPR, on the basis of an adequacy decision of the European Commission, with the adoption of appropriate measures pursuant to Article 46 of the GDPR, such as standard data protection contractual clauses, or with the consent of the user. Where required for the transfer of personal data, consent is necessary for the performance of operations or services requested by users.
Rights of the Data Subject
Pursuant to Articles 7 and 15 to 22 of EU Reg. No. 2016/679 – GDPR You have the right to:
- withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal of consent does not invalidate the lawfulness of the processing carried out before the withdrawal;
- access your personal data in order to obtain information about the data processed;
- verify the correctness of the data and ask for them to be corrected or updated;
- object to the processing of the data, on grounds relating to his particular situation, when the personal data are processed in the public interest, in the exercise of official authority vested in the Controller, in pursuit of a legitimate interest of the Controller. If personal data are processed for direct marketing purposes, you may object to the processing without giving any reasons;
- obtain the restriction of processing. In this case, the Data Controller will not process the data for any purpose other than its storage;
- obtain the deletion of your personal data when the conditions indicated by law are met (e.g. in the event of unlawful processing);
- receive your personal data or have them transferred, where technically possible, to another data controller. This right may be exercised when the data is processed by automated means and the processing is based on the consent of the data subject, on a contract to which the data subject is a party or on contractual measures connected therewith.
You may also lodge a complaint with the Supervisory Authority (in Italy this is the Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali) pursuant to Article 77 of the GDPR or appeal to the Judicial Authority pursuant to Article 79 of the GDPR.
